Srinagar, Sep 17 (KNO): Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir unit on Thursday organised an ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ programme at the historic Clock Tower in Lal Chowk, Srinagar, to mark the 76th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The party workers and supporters gathered at the clock tower and lit diyas and candles as part of the celebrations, offering prayers for the Prime Minister’s long life and good health. The programme was held as part of the BJP’s nationwide birthday observances centred on the ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and BJP leader Sunil Sharma, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), extended birthday greetings to PM Modi on behalf of the party’s Kashmir unit.
“First of all, at Kashmir’s historic Clock Tower in Lal Chowk, on behalf of the BJP’s Kashmir unit, we would like to extend our heartfelt birthday greetings to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We pray for his long life and good health. The entire BJP unit in Kashmir and people at large are praying for this at this historic Clock Tower,” Sharma said.
He said Prime Minister Modi’s public life had included a long tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat followed by nearly 12-and-a-half years as Prime Minister of India.
“Today marks the celebration of twenty-five years spent in office, a tenure comprising roughly twelve and a half years as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and another twelve and a half years as the Prime Minister of India,” Sharma said.
Describing the tenure as “unprecedented” and “remarkable”, the LoP Sharma said PM Modi had dedicated his public life to the service of the nation.
He said BJP workers have assembled beneath the Clock Tower to light lamps and pray for the Prime Minister’s long life and good health, while seeking blessings from the Almighty for his continued service to the country.
